The original Catalyst Driving Performance Optimizer mounts in a track car, records the session and provides adaptive audio cues and immediate analysis on its own 7-inch touchscreen. It is for drivers who want to leave the paddock with a clear plan for the next session.
Find repeatable time on your racing line
True Track Positioning combines 10 Hz multi-GNSS information, image processing and built-in accelerometers to construct your line around the circuit. GPS and GLONASS support positioning, while the included Remote Cam contributes to the complete system.
True Optimal Lap builds an achievable composite from lines you actually drove and can repeat. It identifies segments that can join into a drivable lap, rather than simply adding isolated best sectors. Review early and late apex choices and identify the biggest opportunities to improve.
On track, see best lap, adaptive delta, lap count and session time. Audio coaching plays through a compatible Bluetooth helmet/headset or vehicle stereo. Add a reviewed opportunity to Race Coach or enable Advanced Race Coach; Garmin’s FAQ says coaching starts after three laps in a session. Some stereos introduce delay, so Garmin recommends a compatible headset when cue timing matters.
Use the paddock break for a useful debrief
Analyze a session directly on the 1024 × 600 touchscreen without a computer transfer. The device highlights larger opportunities, compares sessions and adapts its suggestions as driving changes. Segment analysis covers line, speed and acceleration/deceleration, with driving scores and stored session history.
The included Remote Cam records 1080p at up to 30 fps through a 140-degree diagonal view. Play back footage with synchronized speed and lap-data overlays on the device. The polarized lens cover and included 3.5-meter cable are part of the camera package.
A worldwide road-course database is preloaded, and users can add courses. Wi-Fi updates maintain software and track data. Other listed functions include weather information, leaderboards and friend comparisons. Use the Garmin Catalyst app on a compatible smartphone to review mobile summaries away from the device.
Set it up for the car and keep its history
Mounting equipment includes a heavy-duty suction-cup arrangement, powered magnetic mount and screw-down option, plus arms, clips and camera hardware listed below. Garmin recommends the camera near the upper-center windshield area. Secure everything according to the manual and the circuit’s rules.
Separate driver and car profiles help keep histories organized when moving the system between track cars. Internal storage is 16 GB. A 32 GB Class 10 microSD card is installed under the covered compartment, and Garmin lists externally accessible expansion slots supporting microSD cards up to 512 GB.
Battery life is rated up to 2 hours. Socket and bare-wire power options are included for longer sessions; an audio line-out/headphone jack provides another connection choice. This is original Catalyst SKU 010-02345-00, a separate product from Catalyst 2 and Catalyst R1 Racing Radar.
