Product details

The JP Dansk 1615600700 is a 62-liter steel fuel tank that replaces Porsche part 914 201 010 10 on early Porsche 914-4 and 914-6 models built from 1970 until the tank change during the 1973 model year. JP Dansk builds it as a one-to-one copy of the factory tank using current materials and processes. Porsche switched to a different, compartmentalized tank (914 201 010 12, JP Dansk 1615600600) partway through 1973, and that later tank stayed in production through 1976. The two are not interchangeable, so the build date of your car decides which one you need. At 62 liters, this tank holds about 16.4 US gallons.

Tanks on cars that sat for years tend to fail two ways. Old fuel varnishes the inside and clogs the pickup and sender, and moisture rusts the steel through in spots. Past a certain point, replacement is more practical than cleaning and coating. When you order the tank, plan on new rubber seals for the fuel level sender and the filler cap, since those age along with the tank. A fuel line and hose inspection at the same time makes sense, because old hoses shed debris into a fresh tank.

Fitment & Compatibility

Fits 1970–1973 Porsche 914 models built before the 1973 changeover, including the 914-6. Late 1973 cars and all 1974–1976 cars take the later 914 201 010 12 tank. Check the part number on your old tank, or have your chassis number checked, before ordering, especially on a 1973.

Installation & Tuning Notes

Flush the new tank with gasoline before installation. The tanks are cleaned after production, but dust can get in during shipping, and that debris ends up in the fuel filter or pump. Fit new sender and filler cap seals rather than reusing hardened ones.

Common Questions

No. 1974–1976 cars, and late 1973 cars, use the later tank, 914 201 010 12.

How much fuel does it hold?
62 liters, about 16.4 US gallons.

Can I drop it straight in?
Flush it with gasoline first to clear any shipping dust, and fit new sender and cap seals.
