Product details

The EMPI 00-3114-0 is a chrome-plated, 19-gauge stamped steel front bumper that replaces OE part 914 505 009 10 on the 1970–1974 Porsche 914. Rechroming a used bumper means stripping, straightening, and plating a part that is often dented or rusted, and the plating bill alone can run higher than the price of a new bumper. This one arrives plated and ready to fit. EMPI developed it from 3D scans of NOS Porsche components and test-fitted prototypes on a 914 to confirm fit and proportions. It spans about 61 inches across the nose of the car.

The face is supplied without overrider holes. That leaves a clean bumper for cars that run without overriders, while cars that keep them need the holes laid out from the car and drilled. Drilling plated steel takes a sharp bit and a careful start to avoid chipping the chrome around each hole. Mounting hardware, fog lights, and horn grilles are not included, so inspect your brackets, bolts, and grille inserts and order replacements with the bumper. The matching chrome rear bumper is 00-3115-0, and a black-primer front bumper for painted cars is 00-3112-0.

Fitment & Compatibility

Made for the early-bumper Porsche 914, 1970–1974. EMPI also lists it for 1975–1976 cars converted to the early chrome look. If you are backdating a later car, sort out the mounting and trim parts for that conversion before ordering.

Installation & Tuning Notes

Fit the bumper before final assembly and leave the bolts loose until it sits right, since EMPI notes minor adjustment may be needed to suit normal variation between 914 body shells. If you are adding overriders, locate their holes from the car during that trial fit and drill before the final tightening.

Common Questions

Is the chrome bumper sold as a pair with the rear?
No. It is sold individually. The chrome rear bumper is 00-3115-0.

Do I have to drill overrider holes?
Only if your car will run overriders. The bumper comes with a smooth, undrilled face.

Can I put this on a 1976 914?
Yes, as part of a backdate to the early appearance, which EMPI lists as a supported use.
