Product details

This stock-displacement 1600cc engine uses a magnesium crankcase, dual-port cylinder heads, and a single 34 PICT-3 carburetor. EMPI's dressed package includes electronic ignition, a 55A alternator, and fresh engine sheet metal, with the completed assembly tested and tuned on its dynamometer. The heads are fitted with OSVAT OE-style valves.

Choose for a compatible upright-engine Type 1, early Type 2, Ghia, or custom VW installation. The clutch and exhaust must suit the vehicle, and the starter, charging wiring, fuel supply, and heater connections must be checked. A dressed engine does not remove the need to confirm the transaxle and chassis interfaces.
