This EMPI harness replaces the wiring for the 1970–1971 Beetle electrical layout. It includes identified main and branch circuits for lighting, instruments, engine connections, and the associated controls. Color coding and numbered wires support installation with the supplied diagram, but switch-attached wiring is not all included in the harness kit.

Fitment & Compatibility

Check the fuse count and wiper-switch location before ordering a 1971 harness. The manufacturer directs late-1971 cars with twelve fuses and a steering-column wiper switch to 98-9490-0. The installation also requires inspection of the ignition/turn-signal switch leads, grounds, and any added equipment; those existing assemblies must be serviceable.
