This cage locates the balls inside EMPI's 87-9917 Type 2 and Vanagon CV joint. It is a service component for the stock-style 100mm assembly. The cage is supplied on its own, and the inner race, balls and outer joint are inspected and kept or replaced separately as needed.

Fitment & Compatibility
Confirm the joint is the EMPI 87-9917 before ordering. EMPI's off-road Type 2 joint uses a separate replacement cage. Check ball retention and free movement after rebuilding, and do not reuse damaged or pitted bearing-track components.
