A brass float for Weber 48 IDA carburetors and for the 40 and 46 3BBL IDA. The float rides on the fuel in the bowl and closes the needle valve at the right level, so a float that has taken on fuel or been dented leads to flooding or fuel starvation.
If the old float feels heavy or has fuel inside it, replace it.
