This late-style coupler joins the shift rod to the transaxle selector. It replaces a worn coupling that allows lost motion between shifter movement and the transmission. CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum forms the coupler body, with grub screws included to secure it.

Fitment & Compatibility
EMPI specifies Type 1 1965–1979, Karmann Ghia 1965–1974, Type 2 Bus 1968–1979, Type 3 1965–1973, and Thing 1973–1974. Confirm the selector and shift rod ends, especially on vehicles with a changed transaxle. Check the shift rod bushing and shifter adjustment as well as the coupler when diagnosing lost motion.
