Product details
The EMPI 43-5414-0 is a 1.65 air correction jet that meters air into the main-circuit emulsion tube of 40/44 HPMX, 40/44/48 IDF, EPC 48/51, 48 IDA, and DCOE carburetors. It sets how much the mixture is leaned out as rpm climbs, mostly from about 3,500 rpm up. A 1.65 is one step larger, and slightly leaner, than the 1.60 air correctors EMPI installs in its 40 and 44 HPMX carburetors. Common HPMX tuning charts call for a 1.65 on a single 44 HPMX feeding a 1835cc to 2235cc engine.
EMPI catalogs this series from 1.00 to 2.20 in 0.05 steps (43-5401-0 through 43-5425-0). Check the part number when you reorder, because EMPI also sells a 1.65 as 43-5438-0 in its separate series for EPC 32/36, EPC 34, EPC 38E, and DGV-type carburetors.

Fitment & Compatibility
Fits 40/44 HPMX, 40/44/48 IDF, EPC 48/51, 48 IDA, and DCOE carburetors, including EMPI HPMX kits for VW Type 1, 2, 3, and 4 engines. One jet per barrel. EPC 32/36, EPC 34, EPC 38E, and DGV-type carburetors take EMPI's other air jet series.
Installation & Tuning Notes
The main jet takes over from about 2,500 rpm, so set it first and use the air corrector to trim the top end. A smaller air corrector richens the high-rpm mixture and a larger one leans it. Run the same size in every barrel.
Common Questions
Is a 1.65 richer or leaner than a 1.75?
Richer at high rpm. The smaller opening admits less air into the emulsion tube.
How many do I need for one 44 HPMX?
Two, one per barrel. EMPI sells them individually.
