New at PMB Performance

Crazy Deal of the Day: Great Parts. Weird Circumstances. Seriously Good Prices.

B-stock, open box, overstock, and the occasional oddball treasure: honestly described, strictly limited, and priced to move.

Every once in a while, a perfectly good part ends up in a not-so-perfect situation.

A box gets opened. A customer changes their mind. A shipment arrives with a crushed corner. We order a little too much inventory. A caliper casting has some cosmetic pitting that has absolutely nothing to do with how it performs. A vendor would happily take something back, but by the time we pay the freight, restocking fees, and administrative costs, everybody loses.

So we decided to do something better.

Welcome to PMB Performance’s new Crazy Deal of the Day section: a constantly changing collection of parts, components, and occasional oddball treasures that are completely functional, properly represented, and priced to move.

And when we say Crazy Deal, we mean it.

Why We Built It

We’ve been doing this long enough to know that Porsche and automotive enthusiasts tend to care about two things: Does the part work correctly, and is it a good value?

Sometimes a product simply can’t, or shouldn’t, go back on the shelf as brand-new A-stock. That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it. In many cases, the only difference between one of these items and the one sitting next to it at full price is a damaged box, an opened package, a small cosmetic flaw, or a little extra inventory taking up warehouse space.

Rather than hide these parts in a back corner, send perfectly good products back to vendors, or let them collect dust, we’re putting them all in one place and passing the savings directly to you.

That place is Crazy Deal of the Day.

You’ll see several different terms in this section, so here’s what they actually mean in normal car-guy language.

B-Stock: Perfect Where It Counts

B-stock is a product that can’t be sold as pristine, brand-new A-stock because of something cosmetic or circumstantial.

Maybe there’s a scratch.

Maybe there’s a scuff.

Maybe the packaging has seen better days.

Maybe it was a display piece, a customer return, or came from the manufacturer with a small finish imperfection.

The important part is this:

B-stock is tested, functional, authentic, and ready to do its job.

This is especially important when we’re talking about something like a PMB brake caliper.

A caliper casting might have some exterior pitting, discoloration, or another visual blemish that keeps us from calling it cosmetically perfect. But inside, where braking actually happens, it receives the same attention, components, machining, assembly, and testing as our standard product.

It’s perfect where it counts.

PMB brake calipers don’t suddenly become second-class citizens because they’re being sold as B-stock. PMB brake calipers still carry our 10-year warranty.

You may get a cosmetic imperfection.

You may get a crazy price.

You don’t get compromised braking.

Open Box: Somebody Opened It. That’s About It.

An open-box item is exactly what it sounds like: the original packaging has been opened, damaged, unsealed, or is sometimes missing altogether.

In many cases, the product itself has never been used.

A customer might order the wrong part, open the package, realize their mistake, and send it back. Someone might change direction on a project. A shipping carton might get damaged while the perfectly good product inside remains untouched.

Once that factory seal is broken, however, we can’t honestly put it back on the shelf and pretend it’s exactly the same as an untouched, factory-sealed item.

So we don’t.

We tell you what it is and lower the price.

We could also return some of these products to the original vendor. But returns cost money. There can be shipping charges, handling costs, restocking fees, and plenty of wasted time involved in sending a perfectly good item back and forth across the country.

We’d rather skip all of that and pass the savings along to you.

We think you’ll approve.

Overstock: We Bought Too Many. You Win.

Overstock is even easier to explain.

We have more of something than we need.

That’s it.

There’s nothing wrong with the product. Nobody necessarily returned it. The box may still be factory sealed. We simply have too much inventory, need the shelf space, or want to make room for something new.

When that happens, we’d rather turn excess inventory into a great deal for a fellow enthusiast than let it sit in the warehouse.

Our over-ordering problem becomes your opportunity.

So What’s the Difference?

Here’s the quick version:

  • New / A-Stock: Brand-new, factory-fresh merchandise sold through our normal inventory.
  • Open Box: The packaging has been opened or damaged, but the product is generally unused and fully functional.
  • B-Stock: Fully functional merchandise that may have cosmetic imperfections, packaging issues, previous display use, or another reason it can’t be represented as cosmetically perfect A-stock.
  • Overstock: Regular inventory that we simply have too much of.
  • Refurbished: A previously used or defective item that has been repaired, serviced, cleaned, and tested back to proper operating condition.
  • Used: A product that has actually spent meaningful time in service and may show normal wear.

And we’ll always do our best to tell you exactly what you’re looking at before you buy it.

There’s a Catch…

Actually, there are two.

Quantities are usually extremely limited. And when something is gone, it’s gone.

Many Crazy Deal items will be one-offs. We may have one open-box part, two cosmetically blemished pieces, or a small batch of overstock inventory we’re clearing out. Once somebody grabs them, there’s no guarantee another one will show up.

That’s exactly what makes the section fun.

You might find something for the project currently sitting on your lift.

You might find the part you’ve been putting off buying.

You might find something you don’t need yet, but at a price that makes you start planning another project.

We’re Porsche people. We know how this works.

Here’s our suggestion:

Bookmark the Crazy Deal of the Day page and check it regularly.

We’re going to keep adding items as they become available, which means today’s deal may look completely different tomorrow.

There won’t necessarily be a giant announcement every time we put something new up.

The people who check often will see the good stuff first.

So take a look at Crazy Deal of the Day, save it to your bookmarks, and make it part of your regular PMB browsing routine.

Because sometimes the box is ugly.

Sometimes the casting isn’t.

Sometimes we simply bought too many.

But when the part is right and the price is crazy…

That’s your deal.
