JP Dansk Right Lower Heater Control Box for Porsche 914, 1970–1976

JP Dansk part JP-1750-0 is the right-hand lower heater control box for the 1970–1976 Porsche 914-4, a cable-operated flapper valve that sends hot air from the right heat exchanger into the cabin heating ducts or vents it when the heater is off. On a left-hand-drive car it sits on the passenger side, under the car, between the right heat exchanger outlet and the elbow and hose that lead forward. JP Group identifies it as reference 1623200380, with cross-reference 91.402. It is a direct replacement for a box that has rusted through, lost its flap seal, or seized so the cable can no longer move it.

A quick check tells you whether the box is the problem. Disconnect the heater cable at the box and move the flap lever by hand. It should swing through its full travel without binding and spring back when released. If it sticks, or the flap no longer closes against its seat, heat leaks through when the heater is off and goes missing when it is on. Check the left box (JP-1749-0) at the same time, and order new heater hoses and clamps, since the old hoses tend to be split or flattened.

Fitment & Compatibility

For 1970–1976 Porsche 914 models with the four-cylinder engine in 1.7, 1.8, or 2.0 liter form. The right box is a different part from the left, so it will not swap sides. Six-cylinder 914/6 cars fall outside this fitment and should be checked against the parts already on the car.

Installation & Tuning Notes

After mounting the box and its hoses, set the cable so the flap seats fully closed with the heater control off and opens all the way with it on. Run the engine to temperature and feel for heat at the vents in both positions.

Will this fit the passenger side of my 1974 914 2.0?
Yes. It fits the right side of 1970–1976 914-4 models with the 1.7, 1.8, or 2.0 liter engine.

Can I use a left box on the right side?
No. The boxes are side-specific, and the left-hand box is a separate part, JP-1749-0.

Should I replace both boxes at once?
