914Rubber Improved Cork Valve Cover Gasket for Porsche 914-4 (1970-76)
PMB Performance has been the cornerstone of Porsche 914-4 maintenance for two decades, and our nearly 20-year partnership with 914Rubber means we stock more of their SKUs than any retailer out there. Our Improved Cork Valve Cover Gasket for the 1970-76 Porsche 914-4 (1.7L, 1.8L, 2.0L) is a standout—designed to stop leaks and keep your Type 4 engine running clean and strong.
This gasket (OEM ref: 021.101.481) fits all 914-4 models and is sold individually—two required per car. Unlike stock gaskets that compress and leak over time, our 914Rubber version uses a thicker, denser cork-rubber blend, engineered to maintain a tight seal even as valve cover bales lose tension after years of use. At 3mm thick (versus OEM’s ~2mm), it compensates for warped covers or uneven sealing surfaces, resisting oil saturation and heat up to 300°F. This ensures no drips on your driveway or oil fouling your spark plugs, which can kill performance in the 914’s flat-four.
We’ve rebuilt enough 914 engines to know the pain of valve cover leaks—oil seeping past worn gaskets can coat the exhaust, burn off, and stink up your drive. Our gasket’s proprietary formulation grips better than standard cork, reducing the need for over-torquing (keep it to 5-6 ft-lbs to avoid crushing). Installation is straightforward: remove the bales, clean the cover and head surfaces (use a degreaser, not sandpaper), seat the gasket dry (no RTV—Hylomar if you must), and reassemble. Expect 30 minutes per side with a 10mm wrench and screwdriver.
This isn’t just a replacement—it’s an upgrade born from PMB’s hands-on expertise and 914Rubber’s precision. Whether you’re refreshing a daily driver or prepping for a PCA concours, it delivers reliability and peace of mind for every mile.
